@everyone saying ''brutalism'' in the tags to get around op's ban on the word ''minimalism'': you're not slick. go google some pics w/ an open heart, some of it's nice actually
does anyone have like an anti aesthetic. like something you look at and can recognize as a complete fashion/interior design/artistic movement and understand it but it makes you shudder seeing it. i am not talking like “its morally bad” “its poorly structured” like just sheerly devoid of joy for you actually invites a repulse response.
#ok here's my answer: anything with too many Fucking Plants#''wehh you're just jealous bc of your grey thumb -'' No. Listen to me.#there are these very specific Aesthetique(tm) interior design pics i see where EVERY surface is covered in potted plants#especially those bathtubs covered in fuckin mosses and shit like ugh#i look at those & i go "you are not able to take care of all of those. you can't lie to me like that''#i cannot find any indoor space w too many plants in it beautiful bc my brain keeps thinking about the logistics and how much fucking dirt#and dropped leaves would be everywhere#alt. answer: while i am fond of some neo-victorian interior design there's this sort of...weirdly -clean- and weirdly -dark- version of it#that the pinterest girlies seem to favor#and i can't get behind it at all#it's all dark colors (mostly dark green) while somehow also looking VERY sterile. idk how they manage it#it reminds me of those ~dark academia~ images where it's like this uncannily artfully placed stack of -untouched- hardcover books#with obviously fake titles embossed in gold#it feels consciously like a new house pretending to be old (bc it is)
